Missions has been a big part of Northland's culture since the founding of the college. Our first president,
Dr. James Wooster, came to Northland from the mission field and returned to the mission field after his ministry here at Northland.
The emphasis on missions has been passed down through the years and the heartbeat for carrying out the great commission is stronger today than it has ever been.
We have a new set of opportunities that previous generations have not seen. It
has never been easier to go; and with the various ways missionaries can serve,
the possibilities abound.
However, the rise of militant Islam, extreme secularism, and distaste for Christianity have created new obstacles to overcome.
It is our desire to provide thorough training for those seeking to serve on a mission field. In addition, we want to provide opportunities for students of any degree program to participate on the field in missions endeavors.
With involvement from administration, faculty, staff, and students; missions continues to hold a vital role at Northland.
